1. Battery life: yes, it’s relatively short, but acceptable considering the real benefits of the device. There’s a low-battery warning, so the batteries don’t just go dead suddenly. Battery life also depends on how much it’s used. If you’re using it continuously every day, all day, you’re better off with a larger-size headphone/amp combination that’s powered by AC. This one is absolutely ideal for someone who’s hard of hearing.

2. Battery cost: best to buy batteries from major online sites. Don’t buy only three or so at a time … I buy a package of 40 major-label batteries online for about . The “use by” date is usually a couple of years out.

3. Sound cutoff: it cuts off when the other party stops talking for about seven seconds. Yes, it can be annoying at times, but the sound usually comes back almost immediately when the other person starts speaking again. The cutoff saves a lot of power, which would be used if you had to depend on an on-off switch.

4. Sound quality: crisp digital sound. Of course, the sound quality is only as good as the phone you’re using, since that is the sound that feeds into the amplifier. (I use it with a Panasonic cordless phone, and it’s great.)

5. Unmentioned advantage: The sound cutoff is sometimes activated when you’re placed on hold with annoying music. The circuit seems to recognize music, and shuts off the sound off while you’re on hold.

Overall, with some inconveniences, it definitely does the job. I haven’t found any other small amplifier that can be used with mobile or cordless phones.

Sennheiser MM60 iP Mobile Headset for i-Phone (Black) Review

Are they worth w/ shipping? Not totally sure yet. Are they way nicer than any – pieces of doo doo I’ve gotten so far? Most def. Everything on these screams “quality.” I just love that. The sound? JUST got ‘em, will review more later, but it’s a very natural sound. No jacked up bass, etc, which so many speaker ppl do to get a cheap boost from teenaged boys who predictably prefer that sound….I’ll have to use them in different situations and report more later. Overall, I usually don’t ever regret quality even if I have paid a bit more than I wanted to or think I should have to….

Update: I still really like these headphones for their overall high quality. Every time I fold them up I sigh inside due to how nice they feel- not like they are going to fall apart next week! Again, I really like the natural sound- not modified with nerve jangly highs or fake, booming, adolescent lows…I still can’t believe I had to pay to get a decent pair of headphones WITH a MICROPHONE COMPATIBLE WITH IPHONE (KEY PART RIGH THERE). I have the Iphone 3G. There were not a lot of choices out there. ALSO, while I really prefer the OVER-THE-EAR design for comfort around the house, I get nervous wearing them while driving. I live in Ca. and still don’t really get what is legal and not legal and I CANNOT afford a ticket these days!
Bottom line, quality always trumps price, and tho these were a splurge, I understand good headphones get even much more expensive, and I HAVE NOT REGRETTED THIS PURCHASE. (I notice I always want to root for the quality producers)

**OOPS, Forgot the downside!

1) There is no mic or headset volume adjustment. For this price, it should be included

2) the mic pick up is weird cuz the clip makes it want to be upside down most of the time when clipped on clothes. “That shouldn’t matter as modern mics are so damn sensitive and multidirectional these days, it should perform just fine,” you MIGHT think to yourself….WRONG- I have asked several people at the other end of the phone and they usually agree- the sound quality is better when the mic is pointing upwards toward yoiur mouth. Who designed this so poorly? I used to design stuff and I would never have let such poor design slip by me. BAD SENNHEISER PEOPLE! For the money this bluetooth works as well as any I’ve tried. Most, including this one and a Plantronics won’t let you stray very far from your phone. You would think with today’s technology that it wouldn’t be a problem. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. But, the Samsung WEP460 is as good as any I’ve tried so it’s a best buy in my book. I do a lot of cabinet building and trim work and it does not fall off. The plastic ear hook makes my ear sore after awhile but I think I can remedy the problem by softening the plastic and bending it to fit better. I gave it only 4 stars because I think more thought should have gone into the ear hook.

I bought this from Amazon.com Great prices, great service and great support. I have purchased many items from Amazon from tools, camers and books and never a complaint. A couple of items that I had to return were handled with no difficulty.

Pieces immediately began falling off the unit as soon as we removed it from its packaging, though snapping the components back in place took little effort.

Plantronics Mobile Convertible Headset M175C Review

This is a decent quality headset and sound quality from the ear piece is standard Plantronics quality (i.e. very good). The 2.5mm jack means it won’t fit on some mobile phones (this is smaller than a standard headphone jack), but for my Blackberry it’s great (both 8820 and Pearl). As a bonus, I also use it with my XBOX 360 controllers (both with the attached messenger keyboard and without) for online gaming. Some people have observed that I sound a little distant with this headset while plugged into the wireless XBOX controller, but repositioning the mic to be as close to my mouth as possible fixes it.

There is an adjustable mic sensitivity switch on the plug, but this doesn’t seem to make any difference to people at the far end of the conversation.

It’s held up quite well over the past few years, being stuffed in bags and traveling around. It’s not as cool as the wireless headsets (bluetooth etc) but it doesn’t take batteries, doesn’t have to be recharged and isn’t subject to interference.
